Caddisflies: Order Trichoptera

+ Most caddisflies reside in cool running water but many are also found in warm flowing or still waters.

+ Caddisfly larvae occupy a wide variety of habitats and have a wide variety of feeding mechanisms.

+ Some highly specialized larvae capture food with nets constructed of silk.

+ Caddisflies may construct and reside in cases made of silk, sand, or leaf fragments during their changes in life stage.
